:: Labrets ::
Herein lies a gallery of our offerings of: labret shapes in natural materials,
as well as ethnographic labret pieces.
Click on the highlighted words above to jump directly to those sections.
Please visit the specific material pages to view
full information about availability, prices, and sizing.
Labrets have a straight shaft with an attached backing disc.
Our backing discs are either round or oval.
Of course these can be worn in more than just a labret piercing, especially if a one-flare design is desired.
Sizes range from 16ga up to 3/4" in horn or bone,
and 6ga through 5/8" or larger in stone.
Shown below include some inlay possibilities, including
opal inlay horn labrets, and turquoise inlay in obsidian.
Some people have used other shapes such as saddles or cylinders with one or two o-rings in a variety of materials for labret jewelry instead. Examples of these shapes can be found elsewhere in this website.
Materials utilized and shown here include:
water buffalo horn, bone, fossilized walrus ivory, Mexican amber, obsidian, jasper, psilomelane, quartz crystal, jade, labradorite, and tribal labrets in aluminum, copper, and clay.
Custom one-side solid bamboo pieces
(7ga minimum) can also be made to order.
We do not currently offer custom wood, stone, nor amber.
Looking for septum jewelry?
Check our septum jewelry page.
Looking for body jewelry for other piercings?
Other body jewelry offerings for non-earlobe piercings include:
ethnic septum rings, upper ear cartilage jewelry (hoops or dangling earrings from India, and gold internally threaded barbells from S. India), and custom conch and tongue shapes from hardwood.
There are a lot of possibilities for other shapes which can be used in a number of areas, depending on the thickness of the piercing and the appropriateness of the shape. For example, we have had customers use claw shapes in upper ear or navel piercings, cylinder shapes for nipple, conch, and a variety of below the belt piercings, and one-flares for all manner of things. Be creative!
Acknowledging that capitalism has intersections with inequality, colonialism, and racism,
and that selling cultural items has deep ethical implications and obligations,
we are extending wholesale prices for ethnographic jewelry to those individuals which share the cultural, national, and ethnic heritage of these pieces.
Those whose ancestral practices include wearing septum or labret jewelry are also welcomed to apply this to any pre-made septum or labret piece to be worn in those piercings, regardless of material.
This is applicable only to septums, labrets, and the items appearing on the ethnic and tribal jewelry pages. As ear piercing and stretching has been a practice shared nearly worldwide, this offer does not include ear jewelry outside of those pieces on the ethnic and tribal jewelry pages.
This is a trial and will initially run until the end of 2021 to gauge the response.
This is not applicable to past sales or other venues such as Etsy, and no rainchecks will be given.
No proof or stories are required. Simply tell us you would like to take advantage of heritage recognition, reparations, the ethnographic jewelry discount offer, or any other way you would prefer to describe this.
As this is meant for those with authentic cultural or historical connections to these pieces of jewelry, we would be appalled if anyone without these took advantage of this offer made in the spirit of reparations and open hearts.
Please be truthful and ethical in deciding if this is applicable to your situation; the decision is yours.
If you are in a position of abundance, we would deeply appreciate you paying full retail price as we continue to struggle through the pandemic.
Thank you.

:: Ethnic and Tribal Labret Jewelry ::
Most of the jewelry below is quite large,
and some would be difficult to wear,
though we've had customers who have sported similar ones!
They are also great as display, museum, or collector's pieces.
These can all be found on our Ethnographic Jewelry pages.
AFRICAN LABRETS
Southern Ethiopian tribal women's

These are plain, but they can also have incised decorations.
